I recall back in the day how I argued that building a brand for your blog was not necessary.
What a dingbat.
Turns out, I struggled for years because I didn’t understand the basic concept behind highly successful blogs.
Established, pro bloggers build a brand *before* they build a blog. The brand message precedes all else, including the blog, product and services, and brand message.
Thank goodness I got it right when I created and launched Blogging From Paradise 3 years ago.
I have been featured on world-famous sites. I even spoke about blogging at the prestigious NYU. All because I built a memorable, powerful brand that left a firm impression on folks.
By building a recognizable brand you will:
- Drive more traffic to your blog
- Increase your blogging profits
- Land more interviews and features on top blogs or websites
Follow these 5 tips to build a rocking blogging brand.
1: Practice Writing to Hone Your Brand Voice
I wrote 1000 to 10,000 words or more daily for years to hone my brand voice.
Peep any post on Blogging From Paradise. I gradually found my blog and brand voice through the habit of writing regularly, both on my blog, through other blogs, and in a Word document for practice.
My voice is one part humorous, one part practical. I am clear, direct, and to the point through some posts yet wind around a bit with my travel stories.
Readers often tell me they know when I published a guest post somewhere even if they did not see my name. Reading the first few sentences clues them in.
This is how to create a powerful blogging brand. Practice writing to uncover your writing voice. Stand out in your niche. I also recommend using tools like Grammarly to make your content error-free.
2: Make Your Blog an Emotional Experience
From how I greet new visitors, to my writing voice, to my sidebar to my email newsletter with its HD videos, I built my brand by creating an emotional experience for readers.
I saw simple, drab, 3rd person perspective posts would not cut it. At least if I wanted to create a memorable brand.
I draw analogies between my funny or death-defying stories and blogging tips to add entertainment to my delivery. One look at my blog sidebar shows I was featured on world-famous sites like Virgin, Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Fox News. Scroll down a wee bit to see my selfies in tropical paradises around the world.
Readers are pulled into my blog, my brand, my story, and how I can help them build successful blogs because I intend to make any visit to Blogging From Paradise an experience they will remember.
3: Guest Post and Comment Effectively on Niche Blogs
Guest posting and blog commenting have been good to me.
I see each strategy as a way to help folks while leveraging your presence.
I build my brand by using these platforms to help people with their biggest blogging problems. If I share beneficial solutions through my guest post for a huge, targeted community these readers are likely to remember my brand.
Blog commenting is a simple way to add value to a blog post. I also build friendships through effective blog commenting.
This technique involves a few barriers too. Save landing in a spam queue here and there you can pop up on top blogs within your niche by posting a 1-2 paragraph, thoughtful, personalized comment on these sites.
4: Invest in a Bespoke Theme
My developer built a one-of-a-kind, bespoke, attention-grabbing Blogging From Paradise theme to fortify my blogging brand.
On visiting my site you see an enticing video of a tropical paradise, with light, gentle waves lapping at your screen.
This welcome mat embodies my brand.
One of the easiest ways your brand can stand out quickly is by buying a custom-made theme.
5: Build Your Products and Services Library
126 eBooks.
4 courses.
30 audio-books.
Various services.
I built a powerful brand by adding a robust collection of premium products and services to my library.
Being a blogger is OK. Being a pro blogger with a range of helpful, inspired products and services to offer creates an eye-popping brand.
Dive into writing and self-publishing your first eBook. Or begin creating your first online course if that’s your thing. Make your brand memorable. Publish premium offerings to add more juice to your blogging brand.
