How to Link Godaddy Domain with Hostgator Web Hosting
Step 1: Find Hostgator Name Servers
A Name Server is a specialized thing on the internet that handles queries and points the location of a domain name. As Godaddy doesn’t host your website files, you need to point your name servers to Hostgator server.
You’ll get your Hostgator Name Server details through email on buying Hostgator hosting. You can also find your Name Servers on Hostgator cPanel; Once you’ve logged in to your cPanel, scroll down and there you’ll find your Name Servers. Your Name Servers looks like this; ns3344.hostgator.com and ns3345.hostgator.com See the below image for reference.
Step 2: Login to Godday and enter Name Servers:
Login to your Godday account. Click on Domain Management and select your Domain. Now click Nameservers and set nameservers.
Now a Popup Nameserver Settings page will open. Select Custom and Enter Hostgator Nameservers. See the below image.
Step 3: Add Domain On HostGator:
After you’ve configured your name servers, Go back to Hostgator cPanel. Click Addon Domians under Domains.
A new page will open. Fill the required field.
- New Domain Name — add your domain.
- Subdomain/FTP Username — This filed will be created automatically, it’s better if you don’t change it.
- Document Root — This filed will also be created automatically, keep it same.
- Password — Enter a password
Now click on Add Domain. See the below Image for more reference.
You’ll get a message saying your domain has been added. That’s it. You’ve successfully Linked Godaddy Domain with Hostgator Web Hosting.
It might take some hours to your Name Servers to propagate. Sometimes it might take more than 24 hours to access your site.
