How to Start a WordPress Blog with Hostgator
To start a WordPress Blog with Hostgator, you need to install WordPress blogging software on your cPanel. Now let’s start on How to Install WordPress on Hostgator.
Usually there are three ways to install WordPress on Hostgator Web Hosting; Fantastico DeLuxe, QuickInstall and Manually method. In the following tutorial, I’ll show the QuickInstall method as it’s easy way to Install WordPress on Hostgator Hosting.
Once you buy a hosting from Hostgator, you’ll receive an email with cPanel Login credentials and instructions.
Step 1: Login to your cPanel. Usually the login URL link will look like; http://example.com/cpanel. you can find it on the email that Hostgator sent.
Step 2: Once you’re logged in, scroll down and you’ll see the Software/Services section. Click on the QuickInstall icon. You can see it in the below screenshot.
Step 3: You’ll be redirected to a new page, on the left, under blog software, Click on WordPress.
Step 4: It’ll display the details of WordPress and its version. Click on Continue.
Step 5: Now you need to fill out the Application URL, this is the path where you want to install your WordPress.
If you want to use blog in this field, WordPress will be installed to your sub directory like; http://example.com/blog. Leave this field blank if you want to install WordPress in your Root directory.
Below I’m showing my website domain as an example.
Fill out the necessary fields; your Admin Email, Blog Title, Admin Username, First Name and Last Name. You can change these things later if you want.
Now Click on Install Now! Your WordPress will be installed within few minutes. That’s it, your WordPress Installation is complete. You’ve successfully Installed WordPress on Hostgator.
After your WordPress installation is complete, you’ll receive an email like the one below.
Now you can log-in to your WordPress using the login credentials that you received from this email. The log-in URL will be like this; http://example.com/wp-admin.
Your WordPress Dashboard will look like this.
Note: Your WordPress blog might not be accessible if you’ve just changed your Name servers or DNS records, it might take some hours to propagate.
Now your WordPress Blog is ready. You can Install WordPress themes and Plugins.
